Brent Johnson is flying high. His FAA authorized repair station is thriving. The 32-person firm repairs aircraft components, ranging from pneumatics to electronics, lighting controls to temperature gauges. They even repair passenger and crew seats and clean the seat cushions and covers.
They work with companies like Hamilton-Sundstrand, American Eagle, United Express, Delta Connection and Horizon Airlines.
"When we started in 1990, I had 16 years of aviation experience, and I saw a niche for reasonably priced, quick turnaround aircraft repairs," said Midwest Aero Support's owner, Brent Johnson. "So we started in Belvidere in a 3,000 square foot facility, then moved to a 5,500 square foot space in Rockford a couple years later."
Johnson says in 1997, they moved into their current 14,400 square foot shop and now they're looking to expand again.
"I have to confess that following 9/11, we experienced tough times financially," Johnson explained. "Subsequently, our accountant, Roger Price with John Morrissey Accountants, told us he'd call Riverside Community Bank for us."
